Kevin McAuley is a relative newcomer to the Perth training ranks. Born and raised in New Zealand, he’s been training horses for many years and before moving to Perth, had a successful stable in NSW.

He moved to Perth in 2007 and has a small team of mostly young horses in work at stables located on Mathieson Rd, right next to Ascot racecourse. Kev’s horses are kept mentally healthy and happy-a point which he stresses is vital to a horse’s well being.

So far, Kev's best horse has been “Sleepwalk” who was taken on as a cast off maiden after having been tried with TWO other trainers. Kev has performed a miracle with the mare bringing her up from a bush maiden winner to be a stakes placed mare-the winner of 7 races. Needless to say her owners are ecstatic and are now laughing all the way to the bank!

Kev prefers to train a small team of around 8 horses at Ascot-and so of course, you won't see his name on the top ten trainers list in Perth.
